She stands at 29” tall, with a bisque socket head, with painted and molded features: blue glass sleep eyes with real upper lashes, painted lower lashes, raised feathered brows, and an open mouth with four square-cut upper teeth. She has a very lightly dimpled chin, with blushed features and pierced ears. She has her original antique wood & composition body, fully jointed, in the French child style. She wears a lovely synthetic wig with bangs and long banana curls.
Dressed in a superb antique wears a white ribbed cotton bonnet with scalloped edges, along with a cream cotton frock coat with button up and embroidery details. Underneath goes a classic white cotton antique dress with tons of lace trim, insertion lace, and open embroidery details, with a pink sash around the waist. Beneath this lovely dress she wears a white cotton antique half slip, matching white cotton lace-trimmed pantaloons, cream lace socks, and white oilcloth shoes.
MARKS: DEP [back of head, incised]
CONDITION: Generally excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The facial modeling and painting is top-notch, offering a cute doll face. The glass eyes sleep well. The body is good, with only the most minor and typical age wear; the original finish is still present, and the stringing is good. The hands do have some paint touchup. Minor flaking and wear, especially to the joints, hands, and feet, on these old French bodies is not unexpected. The costume is generally excellent, with only minor and typical wear! The wig is soft and supple and fits well. Overall, this is a beautiful doll!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
