Bru Dolls are some of the most coveted dolls in the antique doll world today! Somehow, the designer of the Bru Jeune faces had a very particular talent and skill to portray a child’s face possessing innocence, solemnity and hope all at once. Personally, I love that beautiful face-- those lips! Those oversized blue eyes! She looks so thoughtful, so intelligent, with that far-away contemplative look... What a charming young Mademoiselle this particular Bru Jeune R is. In her stunning maroon silk with lace dress, exquisitely fashioned by a master couturiere with a stunning wired bonnet. She also dons a full set of antique undergarments, socks and her black leather antique shoes. The antique gold tone brooch is an antique period piece.
She is quite ready for a Christmas party or other fancy holiday event, but above all, she is dressed to impress her new mama or papa. If she were to be mine to keep, I'd name her Jocelyn, for that is how I picture my French cousin if she were a child of the late 19th century. If you've been waiting to snag a true-blue-Bru for a while, look no further! Mademoiselle Jocelyn will not disappoint, we promise. This is the dream doll you've been waiting for--Don't pass her up!

On the Bru signed composition fully joined body, this wonderful Bru bebe is from the later period (1889 to 1899) when the Chevrot bodies were no longer used and the company decided to make sturdier, more cost effective dolls using the wood and composition bodies.
She has a French pressed bisque socket head on her original fully jointed signed BRU composition body marked BEBE BRU No 12. Gorgeous watery blue paperweight eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, multi stroke brows, rose eye-shadow, closed mouth with “bee-stung” lips, shading and lighter area in the middle, pierced ears with venetian bead and gold tone bead earrings, dimpled chin, lovely light brown French human hair wig with banana curls over original cork pate.
Just a superb antique presentation!
MARKS: BRU.Jne R12
CONDITION: A hairline from the rear neck hole is about 1.5" long (see Photo). Otherwise she has very fine quality bisque with delicate and sensitive painting of features, pleasant color and crisp modeling of sweet and serene face. She is a wonderful Bru with that special quality that makes the Bru one of the most desirable of all the French Bebes. The original composition body is fully joined and signed BEBE BRU Jne R 12. The hands are antique replacements with three fingers replaced on the left hand but a great fit. There are some areas of touch-up to the joint areas and the original finish has faded overall to a pale beige color which is typical for Bru composition bodies.
Overall, this Bebe Bru is simply outstanding for her age and her condition is an opportunity to get an authentic Bebe Bru at a more affordable price! She is so elegant and demure that she is sure to steal your heart away! Won't you give Jocelyn a place in your heart and home?
