Armand Marseille bring you this exquisite and RARE antique bisque doll! She stands at 23” tall, with a desirable and unique CRYING HEAD mechanism; just push the lever in the back, and she squeaks! This has to be one of the better-quality cryer boxes we’ve had, despite the more common ones being located in the doll’s torso. This particular girl is a lovely example of a rare and desirable doll, with a stuffed oilcloth body, and celluloid lower arms. She’s adorned in a simple yet cute costume, and is bound to please!

She stands at 23” tall, with a bisque shoulder head, with painted and molded features: brown glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, feathered brown brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth. Her open-top head houses a rare wood and paper squeaking/crying mechanism, activated with the metal lever at the back of the neck. She stands on a stuffed oilcloth body with pin joints, and celluloid lower arms. She wears a soft brown mohair curly short wig.
She wears a simple yet elegant antique white cotton dress with long sleeves and lace bodice, with a cute bow in her hair. Underneath goes a cream silk full slip, and a pair of matching silk pantaloons, white socks, and cream leather shoes.
MARKS: A6M DRGM 201012 [back of plate, incised]
CONDITION: Her bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. She bears top-quality modeling and painting of features. The glass eyes sleep well when the doll is reclined, and are aligned straight in the head. The cryer head mechanism works wonderfully, with a clear and consistent sound, upon each push of the lever. Due to the delicate nature of this antique mechanism, however, we do not suggest overusing it. The oilcloth has minor to moderate wear, with a nice cream white color, and some wear to the various joints; the left knee joint has had some repairs. The shoulder pins have been replaced with button alternatives. The costume is good, with minor and typical wear.
