China dolls hold a special place among antique dolls, representing a very unique and early point in doll history. This particular china lady is an especially-fabulous example, with rare and desirable features all around. She stands at 17” tall, adorned in her all-original antique costume, bound to look outstanding for display. She has RARE brown painted eyes, an uncommon feature among the more commonplace blue-eyed china ladies, and has a particularly-fancy hairstyle, with feathered painting along where the hair meets her cheeks, with a detailed coiled plaited bun at the back as well as a molded bow. She even comes equipped with a provenance, from one of her previous owners; a letter by a 95 year old woman written in 1980 and talking about the doll. Her china head is free of any damage, and she is thus ready for display in your collection! This top-quality china lady just might be THE ONE you have been looking for…

She stands at 17” tall, with a slightly blushed pink china shoulder head, with painted and molded features: desirable brown painted eyes, tapered brows, a closed "cupid's bow" mouth, blushed cheeks, and black painted and molded hair, with a middle part, feathered temples, and a coiled plaited bun at the back featuring a molded bow. She stands on a later cloth body, with china lower arms with petite fingers, probably replaced in the 1950s,.
She wears her all-original antique costume! A cafe-au-lait plaid skirt is prominent, having aqua silk banding sewn on the frail and delicate wool skirt. It has a a fitted natural waist, while she wears a simple yet elegant beige cotton shirt on top. Underneath goes her original white cotton antique half slip and chemise.
She comes with a lovely provenance, dated to 1983, in the original envelope.
CONDITION: Her china head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The painting and detailing to the china is crisp and colorful. The cloth body is in wonderful condition, with a nice clean surface, the same going for the china arms. As stated before, the body and arms are a newer addition. The costume is great, with minor to moderate wear; this is to be expected with antique and vintage doll clothing, but overall, the costume is great and presents well! The costume is frail, of course, but presents well.
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
