She stands at 22” tall, on her original antique wood & composition body, fully-jointed. She has a bisque socket head with fired-in brown color, with painted and molded features, in the desirable brown child variant. She has her original brown glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, an open mouth with four upper teeth, feathered black brows, pierced ears, and a dimpled chin. She wears a fine dark brown curly wig with lots of curls.
She wears sweet antique red cotton dress with tiny black dots, silk collar and cuffs, black velvet ribbon trim and four black velvet buttons at the collar and two more at the front sash., she also wears a wonderful original cream cotton chemise with pink insertion ribbon and matching pantaloons, black socks and antique red cloth shoes with red pompoms and two small red ribbons in her hair. Just delightful!
MARKS: S 12 H 739 DEP / Germany
CONDITION: Generally very good. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, or restoration, with top-quality modeling and painting of features, however, there are some typical wig pulls on the crown rim (see photos). The eyes sleep well, and have good pupil alignment. The cold painted lips were retouched and there are some minor rubs to the cheeks. She has had some touch-ups to the original body where the original finish was flaking off and there is some surface crazing of the body finish, also somewhat typical for these black dolls. However, these adjustments now insure that she will be able to survive for another 100 years! The antique costume is in excellent condition but some of the silk at the cuffs and collar is starting to shred. Overall, she’s a great doll! LBK-8-15-18
