She stands at 31.5” tall, with a bisque socket head, with painted and molded features: blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, raised feathered brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth, and a very lightly dimpled chin, with blushed features. She has her original antique wood & composition body, fully jointed, in the child style. She wears a vintage synthetic wig closely resembling a real human hair wig, with long banana curls and bangs; what a beautiful angel!
She wears a white cotton antique dress with open embroidery lace, and a few rows of tucking down the skirt. A pink bow ties around the waist, and a matching ruffled bow sits atop her head. Underneath goes an antique white cotton full slip, sleeveless, and a pair of white cotton simple pantaloons, white cotton socks, and black faux leather shoes.
MARKS: made in M Germany 16 171 [back of head, incised]
Germany 6 ½ [back of torso, red stamp]
CONDITION: Generally Very good. There is a short firing line at the back of the head, coming down from the open rim top. The shape and coloration of the line indicates for certain that this was a factory-inherent firing line, as opposed to a hairline that would have been caused by damage to the doll’s head. Other than this, the bisque head is excellent; the facial modeling and painting is top-notch, offering a cute doll face. The head is free of any hairlines, chips, or restoration. The glass eyes sleep well and have good pupil alignment. The body is good, with only the most minor and typical age wear; the original finish is still present, and the stringing is good. The fingers have some wear, and there’s a small bit of flaking wear to the bottom left of the torso front by the belly. The costume is generally excellent, with only minor and typical wear! The wig is soft and supple and fits well. Overall, this is a beautiful doll!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
