Designed to appeal to the French market, this is a great example of the characteristic style of the Gebruder Kuhnlenz firm. Her dolly features engage the viewer with her charm and unique personality; a real sign of Gebruder Kuhnlenz artistry at work—no two dolls are ever painted the same!

She has a bisque socket head, with a pale complexion and cute molded features. Original blue fixed eyes peer out from between painted lower and upper lashes, topped by feathered brows. The artist gave her cheeks a blushed look with a rosy dark pink and her lips are a peachy pink, slightly lined in a darker pink to enhance her smile. She has an open mouth, with five upper teeth.
She is wearing a delightful antique purple velvet dress with a creamy silk front panel with a nice floral design. Lace accents and a gathered waist really bring the look together with her cream socks and black leather French style shoes. Her underwear consists of an antique cotton full slip with a crochet decorative bottom edge and cotton pantaloons. She wears a blond mohair wig with a big creamy bow to top off the outfit.
MARKS: Dep. / 44-32
CONDITION: Very good. There is a slight flake off the bottom lip, which has been colored in with some makeup (see photo of the naked head to view the chip). She has also had a tooth cosmetically replaced, as is visible in the photo showing the inside of the head. She has some slight rubbing of color on the bisque, particularly on the left cheek and a small area on the back of the head. Generally, she has nice quality bisque with characteristic Gebruder Kuhnlenz styled painting of features, very crisp modeling, pleasant color and a sweet expression. The body has had some fading from exposure to light, and a few markings from wear and use, as might be expected with age. The costume is in great antique condition, and presents well. Please note that the wrists of the costume were opened to fit over the hands. And although she has several minor issues commensurate with her age, this French trade girl is an overall treasure!
