She has a bisque socket head, with painted and molded features: original desirable paperweight eyes, with pale blue irises, painted upper and lower lashes, feathered brown brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth. She has an overall pale complexion, with selectively-blushed features. She is on a wood & composition body with straight wrists, standing at 14.5” tall. She wears a high-quality blond mohair wig in a short, curly style. She has pierced ears, with decorative earrings.
She wears a blue dress, with pleated front, decorative flowers, and cream lace trim. Underneath goes a white cotton antique full slip, with lace trim, and a pair of white cotton pantaloons with lace trim. Cream cotton socks clad her feet, along with a pair of brown leather shoes.
MARKS: 204 [back of head, incised]
CONDITION: Generally excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The face bears high-quality modeling and painting of features. The original paperweight eyes are a desirable feature, with good detailing in the irises. The original wood & composition body is good, with most of the original finish, and the straight wrists are a desirable feature; there is some touchup, particularly to the hands, and the left forearm. The upper left arm appears to be an antique replacement; the shoulder joint and the bicep part are different than the original right one. There is slight expected wear to the composition finish on the body, particularly around the joints; this is not unexpected. The blond wig is a soft mohair, of high quality, with a nice fullness. The costume is good, with minor and typical age wear. Overall, this is a lovely girl!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
