She has perfectly painted features with delicate blue eyes, sweetly rendered lips, a fine aristocratic nose and wide tapered brows. Her white china face is free of any flaws and her cheeks are gently blushed. And this hair! She has a crisply molded head featuring loosely swept- and lower back coiling into a high loop held in place with a red comb, the top of her head with a center part with radiating waves down to her temples. the edge of her hair frames her face in symmetrical scallops. The entire effect is quite marvelous and makes one wonder if the sculptors of these china heads ever took liberties in designing these coifs for the china dolls! Quite a marvelous hairdo indeed and the red comb is quite rare as well!
Her antique silk gown is simply without compare. Have a look at all of the photos- she is just STUNNING in this costume. Her scooped neckline takes advantage of her well sculpted shoulder-plate and is framed by the underlying slate gray base fabric at the shoulders. The natural waistline fans out to a generous skirt highlighted with an abstract floral pattern with a matching gray velvet waist band, Underneath she wears an antique half slip in stiff lawn cotton with delicate tucks and lace trim, original fitted pantaloons and matching short chemise. On her neck is a black ribbon choker with a black and white cameo drop.
Marks: "7" incised in the rear shoulderplate.
Condition; Generally excellent overall. She is in fabulous shape for her age. Her head and plate are in fine condition and virtually flawless. The cloth body appears to be original. Her antique dress is in excellent condition as well.
She is a doll to enjoy for the rest of your life! If you are the kind who keeps collecting items for your dolls through the years, a beautiful victorian doll sized fur shrug would be something to look for for her- or a few little all bisque children to stand at her side in your display! What could be better than a doll such as she that will add so much to your display- she is worthy of her own scene!
