She has a bisque socket head, with painted and molded features, in the classic 1079 model. She has her original blue glass sleep eyes, with painted lower lashes, feathered brown brows, and an open mouth with four upper teeth. She also has selective blushing over an overall pale complexion, with a dimpled chin. She stands on her original wood & composition fully-jointed Handwerck body (Handwerck made bodies for Simon & Halbig), with the red side stamp. She wears a blond soft mohair wig in a short, curly style.
She wears an antique white cotton antique dress with eyelet embroidery, with a blue sash to go around the waist. A matching bow is tied in her blond curls, while underneath she wears a white cotton slip and pantaloons, both vintage. She wears brown cotton socks, and brown leather shoes.
MARKS: S & H 1079 DEP H [back of head, incised] Wimpern Gesetzl. Geschuzt [red stamp, donut mark, back of head] Heinrich Handwerck Germany [red stamp, right side of torso]
CONDITION: Generally excellent! The bisque socket head is free of any hairlines, cracks, or restoration, bearing top-quality modeling and painting, typical for heads made by Simon & Halbig, and featured in Handwerck dolls. However, there is an eye chip to the lower left inside eye-cut. See photos. There are also a few sparse wig pulls/flakes to the crown rim, but these are not too noticeable, especially with the wig on. The original blue glass eyes are bright and full of life, and particularly good example of glass sleep eyes; it should be noted that the eyes do not tilt all the way back when they sleep and there has been some repair to the rocker. The body is in good condition overall, with intact fingers and toes, with nice pose-ability and tight stringing; the varnish is glossy and clean, and the painting is good. There are a few areas of touch-up to the body, especially at the joints; this is typical, and often expected for these bodies, however. The costume is good overall, with a clean and crisp presentation, with only slight and expected age wear. Overall, this is a a really sweet doll!
