We just can’t keep these precious Oriental characters in stock! This lovely model of the Asian character doll is dressed in all vintage clothing modeled after the Uzbek (central Asian) style. Just look at her presentation! So adorable, with a strawberry in hand and flower on her head, she’s just coming home from a day in the park! Her smooth and creamy amber-tinted bisque head has a closed mouth and she’s in great condition! It’s getting harder and harder to find German character dolls fashioned to represent the Asian features, and this girl is a fabulous example of the Victorian Orientalism that was all the rage in the later Victorian period in Europe as well as America.
*** The costume represents the Uzbek style of dress, but many of these molds with Asian features were costumed to represent the different cultures of the east as understood by the west. Made in Germany by the very esteemed firm of Bahr & Proschild, this doll is indeed available on layaway! We’ll enjoy our brief time getting to look at her on our shelf while you take up to 6 months to pay. Contact us for payment plan details or with questions at 718-859-0901 or email us! ***
She has an amber tinted poured bisque socket head on a fully jointed composition body with tinted amber finish to match her bisque. Her smooth bisque complements her skillfully painted features. Feathered black brows perch above her brown blown glass original fixed eyes with painted upper and lower lashes around upward slanting elongated eye cuts. Her closed mouth is painted a lovely peachy pink. She has pierced ears, and wears pearl and coral colored bead earrings to match her coral colored necklace. Her original black wig is styled in an up-do with a flower. Could she “bee” any cuter?
She wears a vintage rayon costume with yellow tunic embellished with gold metallic trim and edged with a printed chevron patterned silk. The pants are silk printed chevron pattern, married with the shirt by a floral embroidered belt. Her undergarment is a cream cotton onesie, and the outfit is completed by long black socks and a pair of cream and blue vintage slippers
Marks: 220 7.
Condition: Excellent. Her head is free of hairlines, cracks. Her original earrings removed the lower portion of the ear lobe, which has since been repaired and she's wearing a fresh pair of earrings once more! She has very nice modeling with expert painting of features, subtle colors and smooth surfaces. There are a few tiny pepper spots in the bisque. Her body is in good condition as well, with some small areas of wear/loss of paint, mostly on the legs and forearms and two finger tips of the right hand are chipped. Her costume does have some wear/fading and is closed in part with straight pins. Inspect the photos closely. Overall, she is a very charming girl in a very desirable oriental mold not often found. Add some diversity to your collection with this sweetie-pie Asian girl!
