If you are interested in purchasing ONE spectacular German doll this year, let this be this extremely special lady. The Rare and elusive A T Kestner, was modeled after the super beautiful and desirable Andre Thuiller French Bebe of the same era. German doll manufacturers knew a great face when they saw it and as there were no copy-write infringement laws to prevent them from doing so, the Kestner firm was quick to unabashedly replicate the face of the famous French bebe and create their own version, now known as "The AT Kestner." This is the doll! In immaculate condition with a hauntingly beautiful early young lady face, this outstanding Kestner will be a treasured addition to any collection for generations to come. With her incredible light blue eyes (I've seen several others with these same eyes), delicately blushed cheeks, powdery pale bisque and spectacular modeling of her closed, Mona Lisa-smiling mouth, she is an incredible find for the collector who wants a singular early Kestner.
Not to mention her fabulous original teal wool walking suit! We estimate that she is made to represent a young lady of 15-19 years, before the baby fat has melted from the face, but with a slender body that can wear a grown-up outfit, longer than her childhood dresses with beautiful original brown leather high button boots peaking out from the flowing hem. For the antique costume specialist, this ensemble is a real treat! Underneath are two layers of original antique underwear and stockings. Her hat is antique as well and nicely compliments her costume. She is truly a treasure. Her inquisitive expression and bright blue eyes render her a truly striking doll; I have never had another like her, and I am sure that I will never have one again. On her dress is an antique gold front heart-shaped pin with initials insignia engraved on a central shield.
The beautiful young lady has a bisque socket head on a bisque shoulder-plate on a kidskin body with bisque lower arms. Beautiful light cornflower blue fixed eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, multi stroke flat thick “French Style” brows, closed mouth with shading and accents, original antique blond mohair wig with antique gold filled barrette, but she also comes with a second antique light brown mohair wig styled in coiled braids.

CONDITION: Excellent. Beautiful dewey bisque with pleasant color, finely painted features, well modeled face with somewhat smiling expression resembles the French AT Bebe dolls. The nose tip is shiny due to much love and there is a small rub to the upper lip. The antique kidskin lady body is in sturdy condition with some typical soiling and settling. The bisque hands are in pale and perfect condition. There is also some wear to her original costume and age stains to the undergarments. The shoes exhibit commensurate wear as well. Overall, she presents beautifully as a young lady of the Victorian era. A really stupendous addition to any serious doll collection!
She resembles the very rare A. Thuiller French bebe of the same era intentionally made to compete with the French manufacturer for the French trade. This is one of the most sought- after and desirable Kestner models! What a spectacular find she is! She is sure to capture your fancy with her stunning original costume and mysterious smile! The AT Kestner command a serious price due to its beauty and rarity. A smaller one recently sold at Theriault’s for $10,000. We are selling this wonderful all original version for much less. Don't be left out in the cold. LBK-12-31-17
