Steeped in history, this doll is incredibly well preserved for her 157 years...Gorgeous in every way, a sweet adolescent face and those captivating large blue sleep eyes, this is one of those girls that you simply won't be able to forget. Ready for her "coming out" ball in her lovely blue silk gown with lace trim and her original blue bead necklace with cross. And have a look at the back of her luxurious original blond mohair wig in luscious ringlet curls all around her head with the original blue silk ribbon. Not to mention, the market for these gorgeous early girls is FINALLY reaching where it should have been years ago, as collectors realize the magic of owning pieces of history from the 1850's and 50's... Can you imagine all that has happened from the day this girl was made until now? And yet she is in such wonderful condition! We are proud to offer this fabulous, museum quality girl and we look forward to placing her in a new, loving home. This magnificent doll is now available on layaway to my loyal friends and customers!

Sublime wax over papier-mache shoulderhead with gorgeous all original painting of features. Beautiful almondine eye-cuts with weighted mechanism of the beautiful blue glass sleep eyes on original rocker. Sweet rosy closed mouth, pert nose, and that FABULOUS delicate pink blush to her cheeks. The original body is made of cloth with leather arms and hands having individually stitched fingers (some wear and stitched mends). And did you take a look at that hair? Just wonderful original mohair wig over a net cap and in the original hairdo, with the original blue silk hair bow. Wow. What an INCREDIBLE find.
She is costumed in her original blue silk gown with white plaid pattern and blue velvet applied banding, open neck typical of the period with short puffy sleeves and very delicate lace trim. Underneath she wears three slips and a pair of pantaloons all original with beige cotton knit stockings and original brown leather shoes with lace ties. (Note,: we did not venture to remove the dress due to it's age and frailty--however, aside from the sides at the waist where there is wear due to the metal cinches of the stands used to hold her upright, the dress appears to be in remarkably excellent condition. )
Marks: none visisble
Condition: She is in amazing shape for her age. Excellent overall condition but with a craze separation at the right of the head and a minor line to the neck as well. Note that most wax dolls have crazing and cracking with age, but do survive incredibly well with time as long as you keep them out of extreme temperature fluctuations. Also, there is a repair to the left hand fingers which are still quite frail (see the photos). Generally, she has minimal overall wear with beautiful original painting intact (SUPER RARE TO FIND!) You just won't come across a more pristine example! LBK-10-21-17000X05911
