"Perhaps I was born in the wrong century!" This Simon and Halbig girl sighs, rocking back on her heels in the museum gallery. Her melting blue eyes gaze rapturously upon the serene face of Madame de Pompadour, captured in oils forever. The soft curls of her rich, original auburn hair certainly evokes the pretty shepherdesses of Georgian artists; her antique silk dress(possibly newly made from antique fabrics and lace) with its wide net sleeves and delicate lace hints at their graceful angels. Mama merely shakes her head- maybe a paintbox will find its way onto the pile of birthday gifts!
The Simon & Halbig 979 model is highly-treasured among doll collectors the world over. That distinctive, finely-modeled face is stunning, with original-set blue glass eyes, accompanied by a cute open mouth with two square-cut upper teeth and one lower tooth ( a highly prized feature by Simon & Halbig connoisseurs! Her finely painted and modeled features bring her pale complexion to life, graced with loose curls from her original antique chocolate brown mohair wig. She's adorned in a lovely antique (?)) costume, with a bit of a rustic feel to it, making her look like she has come straight out of time to land within your collection! She's in outstanding condition as well, with a near-mint bisque head, and a beautiful Schmitt-type fully-jointed body with eight loose ball joints. This beautiful girl demands your attention and love -- do not hesitate to make her your own!

The original Schmitt-type wood & composition body has its all original finish, with the original glossy varnish on top to give it a nice sheen. There is some minor and typical age wear, but overall the body is great. There is some minor touchup to the hands. Tight stringing gives her nice pose-ability.
