I am speechless for this ethereal angel; words fail for this exquisite beauty... She is simply otherworldly! I love that beautiful face-- those lips! Those oversized blue eyes! She looks so thoughtful, so intelligent, with that far-away contemplative look... What a charming young Mademoiselle. In her stunning subdued red wool sailor style dress with antique brass buttons and cream silk front panel, a full set of antique undergarments and Burgundy stockings plus that jaunty cream silk pleated cap with a large antique button and red feather. She also sports a nice pair of antique black leather shoes. She is quite ready for a Christmas party or other fancy winter event, but above all, she is dressed to impress her new mama or papa. If she were to be mine to keep, I'd name her Emmaline, for that is how I picture my great grandma as a child. If you've been waiting to snag a true-blue-Bru for a while, look no further! Mademoiselle Emmaline will not disappoint, we promise. This is the dream doll you've been waiting for--Don't pass her up!

Rare to find on the composition fully joined Bru body, this wonderful Bru bebe is from the early Paul Girard period when the Chevrot bodies were no longer used and Girard decided to make sturdier, more cost effective dolls using the wood and composition bodies. The head is still of pressed bisque from the earlier Leon Casimir Bru period. These heads are often found on composition bodies as the factory utilized all stock at hand to produce the dolls. It is likely that there were many pressed bisque heads still on the shelves when Paul Girard took over the operation of the firm in 1891. see pages[ 138-141 in The Bru Book by Francois Theimer. She has a French pressed bisque socket head on her original fully jointed Paul Girard era BRU composition body marked BEBE BRU No 11. Gorgeous watery blue paperweight eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, multi stroke brows, closed mouth with shading and lighter area in the middle, pierced ears with glass bead earrings, dimpled chin, lovely antique French dark blond human hair wig with banana curls over original cork pate.
Dressed in a lovely antique style red wool sailor design dress created from antique fabric remnants by a master seamstress as described above. Just a superb antique presentation!
MARKS: BRU . Jne 11 CONDITION: Excellent. Very fine quality bisque with delicate and sensitive painting of features, pleasant color and crisp modeling of sweet and serene face. She is a wonderful Bru with that special quality that makes the Bru one of the most desirable of all the French Bebes. The original composition body is fully joined and signed BEBE BRU 11. There are some seam repairs to the left shoulder and the left hand is an appropriately sized antique replacement. Overall, this Bebe Bru is simply outstanding for her age and condition! She is so elegant and demure that she is sure to steal your heart away! Won't you give Emmaline a place in your heart and home?
