He has a creamy and pale bisque socket head with blue glass sleep eyes, and open mouth; molded and painted features. Painted upper and lower lashes, real upper lashes, and brown feathered brows. His original dark blond mohair wig is in a short, cute style. His original antique composition body standing at 12.5" Tall, with bent arms and straight child legs and flat, stand-up feet.
He wears a blue cotton sailor suit, with white square collar and red trim and red ribbon neckercheif. A cream cotton beanie sits atop his head, while underneath he wears a multi-colored cotton shirt, red and white striped socks, and dark blue oilcloth shoes with snap buttons.
MARKS: K & R Simon & Halbig Germany 126 [incised, back of head]
CONDITION: Generally Excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. Modeling is crisp and the painting is sharp and delicate, indicative of particular care by the manufacturers. He does have some minor peppering to the forehead, but it is very faint and not noticeable. The glass eyes sleep well. The eyes are set nicely within the head, with good pupil alignment. The original wig is good, with no issues. The body is well-strung and has held up well, with the original finish. Only minor wear to the body, at the left hip joint where some reinforcing glue seems to have been applied. His adorable sailor costume is in very good aged condition, and presents well. Overall, a great doll in great condition! Your girl dalls will surely be tickled to welcome him into your doll family!
