The 1830s marked the beginning of a new era. Young and beautiful Queen Victoria had just ascended the throne of England and everything seemed fresh and bright. That hope shines brilliantly in the warm brown eyes of this wax doll made circa 1839, her sprightly, smiling face framed by wheat-colored hair. A rare wire lever mechanism opens and closes those eyes, a new innovation at the time, hidden by her lacy brown dress. She stands at the cusp of a new era, looking into the future with an optimism undimmed by her decades of life. Let her share that hope and beauty with you!
Steeped in history, this is the doll is incredibly well preserved for her 178 years...Gorgeous in every way, a sweet character face expression and those captivating rich brown lever sleep eyes (operated with a wire emanating from under her left rib), this is one of those girls that you simply won't be able to forget. Ready for an afternoon stroll in her lovely brown cotton print dress with lace trim and her lovely brown straw hat bedecked with flowers- And have a look at the back of her hair where her ALL ORIGINAL four part braids and original blue silk ribbon STEAL the show. Not to mention, the market for these gorgeous early girls is FINALLY reaching where it should have been years ago, as collectors realize the magic of owning pieces of history from the 1830's and 40's... Can you imagine all that has happened from the day this girl was made until now? And yet she is in such wonderful condition! We are proud to offer this fabulous, museum quality girl and we look forward to placing her in a new, loving home. Coming out of my personal collection, this magnificent doll is now available to my loyal friends and customers!
