Can we say "magnifique!" This ravishing mademoiselle is ready for a stroll along the Seine in her gorgeous petal pink cotton and lace walking ensemble... Or perhaps she has taken a detour straight for your cabinet?! One of the most lovely Parisienne fashion poupees we've ever had, this striking and sumptuous lady is a cut above the rest with her super early and desirable cobalt eyes and wonderful ensemble. And with such history! I would say that this extraordinary example has a very special past as her beautiful cobalt eyes, and distinctive Jumeau face let us in on a bit of history about her manufacture and past! She is one of the first 'true Jumeau' poupees; made at the Jumeau factory in Montreuil that was set up after the Franco-Prussian war in 1870, we are able to date her very specifically because of the technique used to create these highly desirable eyes, and the tongue in-groove articulation of her shoulders, as well as the V front seam on her body... She was probably created around 1873. It is so wonderful when these dolls have little details like this that allow such specific historical accuracy! We just love her, and we know that her new mamma or pappa will too. And because of a little bit of damage, she is being offered at nearly HALF of her perfect retail value, which would be closer to $6500 for an early example with such shapely bisque arms as this. Get this angel before she's gone... there's nothing like a beautiful doll at an affordable price, and this beauty fits the bill.

Mademoiselle features the most extraordinary creamy bisque complexion with delicate blushing of cheeks, wonderful painting of plump lips with accent shading, beautiful lined eyecuts, with rare early cobalt glass eyes, blond stroked brows with little lashes, pierced ears and pert nose. Her outstanding original kid body features kid over wood upper arms and bisque lower arms, outstanding molding and painting of hands featuring molded knuckles, sculpted fingers and manicured nail beds (right hand restored.) She wears a beautiful mohair wig in a vibrant strawberry blond.
She is sporting a spectacular Victorian style ladies walking gown in a pale blush cotton with layer upon layer of wonderful lace trimming that took hours to create and hours to iron! Jacket comes off to reveal full skirt, and then many layers of undergarments including a beautiful full slip, a chemise slip (half slip pinned for a better fit) as well as a very cute pair of pantaloons, albeit long on her. She has felt shoes and antique cream cotton ribbed socks. She is completed with a most delightful chapeau and an antique black velvet choker with a gold dangle drop, as well as two wonderful antique gold earrings with pearls... Mademoiselle loves her pearls! Her cupped hands all but beckon for a parasol and a purse... one could create quite the trousseau for this beauty; although she is ready to stun as she is now, in this frothy confection of a day dress!
Condition: Excellent save aforementioned restoration to her left hand which is visible in the photographs. Bisque head is mint, shoulder plate having the lovely suggestion of decoltee is in perfect condition as well. The body is in beautiful condition with clean tongue in groove joints at the shoulders, and she even has enough mobility in the hips to sit! A very rare talent for a poupee these days. Overall, a spectacular girl with a mint condition head and plate that will serve as a shining star in any collection for generations. I certainly think one could make a special sewing project of constructing a fabulous trousseau for mademoiselle, or just collecting period appropriate gowns for her to wear. We know that this is one poupee that will not stick around long.
