My fellow doll enthusiasts,
Tonight I present a wonderful Bebe of the of the late 1800s made by Jumeau with a head produced by the German firm, Simon & Halbig. The rare closed-mouth version of the popular DEP doll is highly sought after by today's collectors in the know. Just one look at her dewy complexion, her gorgeous deep blue French paperweight eyes and her sumptuous closed mouth and I guarantee it will be love at first sight or as the French would say "Le Coup de Foudre!" She is dressed in the most luxurious midnight blue velvet gown with lace trim and a wonderful be-feathered and be-ribboned chapeau to attract so many admiring glances. Who would deny that this lovely French mademoiselle is not of the finest class and breeding? Though she is the result of French and German parentage, she is nonetheless and exquisite beauty deserving of a place of honor in any collection.

She has a bisque socket head on a fully jointed French composition and wood body with straight wrists. She has deep blue paperweight eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, multi-stroked thick feathered brows, closed mouth with shading and accents, dimpled chin, pierced ears with original turquoise glass earrings, lovely light brown French human hair wig beautifully styled in multitudinous banana curls.
Dressed in a superb midnight blue velvet dress with lace trim, three layers of original antique cream cotton underwear with fine detailing, black silk net stockings and gorgeous brown leather high lace up reproduction shoes by a master shoemaker and a superbly crafted antique(?) bonnet in feathers, flowers and ribbons. A delightful overall presentation!.
CONDITION: Excellent. Fine quality pale bisque head with pleasant pale color, very crisp and deep modeling of lovely face with expert painting of features, deep and crisp modeling of a truly beautiful face. Very slight and minor rubs to the nose and right cheek are hardly noticeable to the naked eye. The French body is in fine and sturdy condition with all original finish and just some minor flaking to the joint areas. A rarer doll, she commands a lot of respect for her loveliness and poise! Closed mouth DEPs are rare and they also represent a collaboration between French and German Doll manufacturing in the late 1800s and early part of the 20th century. It is generally accepted that Simon & Halbig produced the DEP heads for Jumeau.
A really adorable charmer in a lovely costume and perfect display-ready condition. Don't let this be the beauty that got away!
