In all my years of antique doll collection, never before have I seen one of these early musical dolls by the Massachusetts's Organ Company! These beauties were produced from c.1883 onward, with all the presentation of a beautiful imported French or German doll, with an internal torso mechanism that, when squeezed, issues one of many different songs. Press your fingers against the wooden button on her chest, and the hidden mechanism in her torso will issue forth musical notes! Few of these dolls remain in circulation today, making them a rarity and of high demand. The Massachusetts's Organ Company proudly marketed these musical girls as "a most ingenious machine", and so she is! She has a smooth, blushed papier mache head, modeled into a sweet, child-like expression, with great care in painting her youthful features. Her blue glass eyes stare longingly, topped with her all-original human hair wig -- a truly desirable find. She is on her original body, with leather arms, and is adorned in an antique costume that gives her that extra aura of timeless beauty. These are the types of girls I like to grace my collection with, offering something to all doll lovers with the presentation of early antique doll history. She stands at 21" tall, so she is just the right height to fill that little space in your shelf, without demanding a massive spot in your big cabinet. She's such a delight, she is the doll to please both new and experienced collectors alike! If this girl has caught your eye, she is available on one of our layaway plans, so what are you waiting for? Make her your own!

Papier mache shoulder head, with glass blue eyes and modeled and painted features. Closed mouth with painted pink lips, with a nice overall expression. Tapered brown brows match her original antique human hair wig, in a twin ponytail style. The head is glued on to her original cloth body, stuffed with cotton. Internal squeeze box with external button, which, when pressed, makes a musical note. Each squeeze gives a slightly different pitch, so pressing several times in a row makes it sound like a song. She has her original leather cream arms, with individual fingers. She stands at 21" tall.
She is adorned in a white cotton antique dress, with lots of lace overlay and trim, and an eyelet lace front. A golden ribbon ties around the waist. Underneath, she wears a white cotton antique full slip with button-up back, and matching lace-trimmed pantaloons. White cotton antique socks adorn her feet, along with vintage golden crochet slippers.
CONDITION: Generally excellent. The papier mache head is clean and smooth, with nice modeling and painting of features. The glass eyes sparkle well, and she presents a nice expression. There is a small bit of discoloration to the papier mache on the plate, but this is expected for papier maches as they age. The original antique wig is affixed firmly. The leather arms are original and in good intact condition; the only thing is that the left arm has two minor patchwork reinforcements. The cloth body is clean and sturdy, holding up well for a piece of its age. The costume is clean and in good overall condition, with only some minor wear and some minor holes in the fabric (particularly to the half slip). The squeeze box works very well! Overall, this is a great girl in great condition.
