Us collectors know the magic that a beautiful doll can have on us… The way those golden curls come down on either side of her face, like sunshine waterfalls illuminating her pale child-like face. An antique costume that carries the unparalleled beauty of preserved quality from so many years ago… Those big blue eyes that just plead with you to make room in your cabinets for just one more girl to love! This Hertel & Schwabb 136 knows just how to play on our heart strings, and I’m sure some loving collector is going to give this bisque beauty just what she wants -- a new home! She stands at 27.5” tall, so you’ll need to clear out some room for her, and we can’t help but smile at her condition. Some may say that German dollies are a dime a dozen, but we know that each girl has a life and a story of her own. And who knows, if you’re the lucky collector who wants to make this girl your own, I’m sure you’ll make stories of your own with her!

Creamy and pale bisque socket head, with an open mouth with four upper teeth. Big blue glass sleep eyes, with real upper lashes, and painted lower lashes. Painted feathered flyaway brows, all topped with a top-quality mohair blond wig, in tight curls that come down to her shoulders with a nice side-part. She’s on her original antique wood & composition body, standing at 27.5” tall (28” with the wig), and is fully pose-able.
She is adorned in a beautiful top-quality antique dress, showcasing the best of antique doll wardrobe history. Lace trim to the cuffs and collar, and insertion lace at the bottom of the skirt, and along the ruffled collar and on the chest. She has a light blue silk bow tied around the waist, while a matching bow sits in her hair. Underneath she wears a white cotton antique slip with lace trim, and matching antique pantaloons. It should be noted that the full slip is a little big on her. White cotton antique socks adorn her feet along with vintage black shoes.
CONDITION: Absolutely excellent. This girl has a bisque head free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The painting and modeling are indicative of top antique quality, capturing the beauty and lifelike nature of a German doll. The glass eyes sparkle, and sleep well, sitting nicely in the head with straight pupil alignment. The lashes are mostly intact, which is a great feature. The body has only the most minor of expected age wear, almost always accompanying these antique dolls. The pinky of her right hand has been repaired, however. The original finish is glossy and smooth, while the hands have held up well over the years, with only some minor dirt wear. The costume is clean and sturdy, with excellent presentation that can’t be beat.
