For the collectors and lovers of the earlier dolls of antique history, the Greiner is always a first pick! A beautiful papier mache shoulder head is modeled with a lovely lady face, with a serene expression that will look calmly over your sitting room from her spot in the display cabinet. 26 inches tall makes her stand at a great height, proudly, on her original cloth body and in her all original antique dress, in great overall condition. With her original patent "Greiner" stamp, she carries her history well! A truly beautiful lady, she is bound to make any lover of early papier maches very happy! She's even offered on our unique layaway plans, so you can take your time to pay!
***Yes, she is available on layaway! Feel free to give us a call at 718-859-0901, or send us an email with any questions about our items.***
She has a beautiful papier mache head on what appears to be her original cloth body with leather hands. The head is in goodcondition with all original black barrel curls. She has a nice painted and modeled lady face, with blushed lips, and dark blue eyes with painted lashes and brows. Original cloth body stands at a full 26" tall, with the original leather arms with stitched fingers.
She is adorned in her all-original antique cotton brown dress with cream flower print, which fits her very well. She has antique undergarments, with two cream cotton antique half slips (one with button closure, the other with a pin), and matching pantaloons (closable with a pin). Black cotton antique socks, and lovely antique brown leather boots with functional five-button sides. Truly beautiful!
Marks: (Stamp) Greiner's Improved Patent Heads. Pat. March 30th 1858
Condition: Very good, especially considering her age! The papier mache head and plate has some expected crazing to the finish, but it's relatively light, and not too noticeable. The face is pleasant, with good painting, although the irises and the lips appear to have a bit of touching up. The nose and cheeks are original without touchup. The hair is good, with only some expected rubbing of the paint particularly at the front of the top. The cloth body is good, with no major damage or staining, with only expected aging. The original leather hands are lovely, and in great condition, with the side seams re-sewn for integrity. Costume is good, with some wear and some fraying here and there, and some minor holes to the dress and slip. Still, the dress is all original, and the undergarments antique. Overall, she's a beautiful lady, bound to impress!
