A small smile plays about her lips as she looks up to great her new mamma or papa. "Bonjour," she demurely says, before returning her attention to getting dressed for the day's events. Your heart melts as you look at her, you know that you simply cannot leave her be; for it is time to play with your new favorite treasure... One of the sweetest, most fanciful, and certainly rarest Enfantine poupees we've ever met, this gorgeous little lady is a special example of a coveted c.1872 Barrois poupee on an early kid over wood body with bisque arms in a delicious museum quality silk costume. The ensemble is head-to-toe original, except for the hat, and my-oh-my does she make an impression! With some of the crispest molding, most wonderful cobalt blue eyes, and long branching lashes, her particularly dramatic presentation will stun in any vignette you might wish to display her in- but she is far more than just a pretty face and a rare model. The historically significant costume she sports makes her an especially attractive example for the collector who focuses on Victorian and Belle Epoche era fashion. Mademoiselle proudly wears her original 'Lonchambon' era dress, named for the collaborator who joined the Huret company in the early 1870's and encouraged this style of costume, the fashionable successor of the classic 'Enfantine' style of the 1850's and 60's Huret dolls; it was only produced for a few precious years and very few all original examples remain. And, as most true couture costumes, the outstanding qualities don't just extend to the exterior of the ensemble- they continue as you peel back the layers. This ensemble is made even more outstanding by the addition of her original blue silk corset- made of the same exact material, with metal grommets. I have never seen a Lonchambon era corset before! This style, soon after its introduction, developed a bustle and a more stout cut to became the classic 'Bru bebe' dress, produced at length for the chunkier Bru dolls, but for those who have the Huret Book by Francois & Danielle Theimer, more information on this rare and fleeting fashion is available on pages 193-198 (a scan can be included with the purchase of this beautiful girl.) I am extremely excited to bring this rare and alluring doll to market, and I know that she will be a one-of-a-kind addition to whatever collection she joins.

Pressed bisque cup and saucer socket head with original neck button on original plate attached to neck button (cannot be removed without damaging stringing. Very pale coloring of perfect head and plate, beautiful pink lips with large blue cobalt glass eyes, dark brows, long branching lashes, outstanding painting of features and delicate blushing of lips. Dark liner around the eye cuts, making those very dramatic blue eyes pop. Her fabulous kid over wood body has tongue in groove joints, beautiful carved wooden feet and stunning, plump bisque arms to above the elbow with curved fingers, excellent for holding parasols or brushes, perfume bottles... You name it! Feet have individually carved toes, and hips feature large buttocks. The leather is in excellent condition, supple and white. What a pleasure to pose and touch!

As discussed above, she is sporting her rare, spectacular original aquamarine couturier silk dress. The gown is a fabulous A-Line cut in the Lonchambon era style with no less than 40 rows of lace ruching down the front in a spectacularly rich panel that must have taken hours to make by hand. The open collar allows room for her to boast her beautiful pearl necklace. Underneath she Lace around the collar, cuffs and hem. Underneath she has a cream cotton full shift, and then her wonderful original aquamarine silk corset with metal grommets and black banding. Wooo! When is the last time you've seen a corset that matched a dress like this? I never have! She also boasts her original pantaloons, original socks and French leather shoes (missing soles.) Lovely antique/vintage hat and beautiful original skin wig (later interior markings.) She will absolutely DELIGHT her new parent!

Marks: E 3 DEPOSE B

Condition: Excellent condition of head and plate. Arms in very good shape with only some minor restoration to hands reaching left thumb and middle finger (touch up to interior) and right index tip with some touch up to interior. Perfect, glowing bisque head and plate in spectacular shape, free of hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. Superb pale coloring with masterful execution of painting and rare, early cobalt eyes with dark outer-rim and light center around iris. Lovely original finish to the carved wooden feet with some minimal touch up to the toes. She has the tiniest little feather that is absolutely imperceptible unless you are looking for it to the left of her nose. Precious original skin wig. Body is in excellent shape with beautiful original coloring and condition, one patch to right arm. Some age color to the dress and delicate condition of the silk, but overall fabulous. This is one of the best poupees you'll ever find, and if you've been tracking the prices of these early cup and saucer neck poupees, I'm sure you've seen them creeping up, up and up over the last few years, and now these are some of the most desirable Enfantines on the market. If she did not have minor touch up to the fingers and the feet, she would easily be in the $13,000 range. Call this stellar girl your own before she is gone!
