Have you been wanting to acquire delightfully-rare papier mache lady? She's French in origin, with an aura of class and elegance. Ladies like these are such a rare delight to behold, and it's always a pleasure to put one on the market for some true lovers of papier mache dolls. She is a fabulous representation of the early papier mache dolls, and is sure to look absolutely stunning in your collection cabinet. Do not waste another moment. If she were perfect, she would be demanding prices of up to $2000! Don't let this lady pass you by!
She has a papier-mache shoulder head, with a slender neck, and lovely lady's head with delicate modeling and fine features denoting a noble woman of the French upper class. She has inset brown glass eyes in almond-shaped settings, thin, single-stroke painted brows, open mouth with several (it appears to be four) upper teeth. Open-mouth dolls with teeth are the more desirable version of these rare papier-mache dolls as they were much more labor intensive to create! She is on her original kidskin body, with individual wired fingers, shapely form with corset shaped torso, and long slender limbs representing the "ideal" figure of that period.
She is adorned in a brown and white cotton dress and pantaloons pair with white flowery vine print. A lovely platinum blond mohair wig sits atop her head and fits perfectly with a single long braid that looks absolutely stunning.
Condition: Generally good, although she does have some touchups to the papier mache. Her face just below the eyes seems to have had some smoothing other of the surface finish, and the eyebrows seem to have been touched up with paint. However, the mouth has the original paint and pink shading, while the eye setting is good. The plate edge has some chips, and paint touchup to the front. It should be noted that this kind of condition is not unusual for these papier mache dolls, as they are rather delicate and have a harder time getting through the many years in perfect condition. The cloth body has a large patch to the torso, while her arms were "patched" with tape, and the leather hands are very fragile. Be careful with her!
