A very sweet china lady circa 1880 with a shy expression, partially exposed ears, unusual hairdo with rolling curls and tiny low bun at the rear. Her rosebud mouth is so demure and her dress is superbly crafted out of a lovely mauve cotton print fabric with lace and navy velvet trim,
She has a wonderful china head with small lips, big blue eyes, petite nose, tapered brows. She is on a wonderful antique cloth body with individually stitched brown leather fingers attached red leather boots, attached blue striped stockings. Her hair molded with full curls all around, partially exposing her ears on the sides and arranged in an interesting pattern at the back of the head gathering into a small bun at the base of the neck.
The wonderful two pie costume represents a lady of the 1880s with a lovely day dress in rose cotton with floral print, partially pleated skirt, with double stitched pleating, blue velvet band at the three quarter length and tied in a bow at the rear, the top with triple tier of ruffled lace on the bodice, lace at the cuffs which have pairs of pointed oval shaped mother-of-pearl buttons and snap closures at the back of the dress. Underneath is a full fitted cotton slip with lace trim, a half slip and a pair of cotton pantaloons (probably original).
Condition: Generally excellent. The head is in wonderful condition. The body may be a replacement antique body of appropriat size. The body has had serious patching of both arms with much wear to the leather hands. One red leather boot is partialy worn off while the other one required stitching to prevent splitting. The right lower leg also needed reinforcing stitches. LBK-9-6-16
