A wonderful, early handmade lace shawl simply looks divine on any poupee! Perfect for the collector who loves purchasing pieces for the demoiselles to share, such a treasured frippery will have even the fussiest fashion doll in a smitten state. A very desirable commodity for the fashion forward young miss, shawls were an integral part of poupee wardrobes in the 1860's & 70's as they enabled different looks with each outfit that they were added to. This particular example is a seldom seen Rectangle shawl, with a very playful chenille pom and glass bead trim. Quite excellent for the later Huret, Rohmer, Gaultier or Jumeau as we have pictured here, I especially love shawls for my wood body poupee as when I'm feeling scandalous, I pose her nude with her costume on a mannequin beside her, and animate her body to be wrapped with a sensuous lace shawl such as this. Her fine form is thus on display to its fullest advantage, yet she maintains the modesty of a beautiful shawl. And with the exquisite craftspersonship of the french handmade lace of the finest quality, this one has such a magical feel to it.. so delicate yet perfectly weighted by the glass bead trim. This is truly a singular example. Acquire it before it is gone!
