A treasured piece for the collector who is interested in acquiring one of these illusive, rare smiling papier mache children by Andreas Voit, this particularly large model is a special example. On her fabulous all original pink leather body, entirely hand stitched in near mint condition, with a stunning face that just lights up a room, I have not seen another of this quality in many, many years. Standing at an impressive 27" in height, wearing a fabulous snow white soutache and pique dress, I could not imagine a more striking and beautiful addition to your collection, be it large or small, in this category. Have a look at her individually stitched and wired toes, and her near mint condition hands! This was one well taken care of dolly. With the way that the early doll market has been trending lately (record setting prices at every auction I've been seeing!) and the renewed interest in early 19th century dolls and costumes from museums and media, I couldn't imagine a better time to invest in so lovely a doll. I am pricing her below what I sold my last one for ($3200 and she was smaller), as I need to make room for new stock, so take advantage while she is still here!
~This beautiful doll is available on layaway! Take up to 10 months to pay for her in equal payments. We are certain that she will be very happy in her new home. This beautiful young lady is in very good condition with her original body, beautiful painting of features including intact eyebrows, lashes, blush, and lip color. There has been some minor touch up to the skin and the lashes on the neck, plate and around the nose, otherwise, her painting of brows and lips, nose dots and hair is all original. She features wonderful modeling and excellent painting. The body is in excellent shape- original leather hands are have all original fingers intact and in place, as do her feet! Please take a look at the photos to see the glory of this pink kid body. She has a victorian mohair wig that is probably from the 1880's, but it looks very fetching on her.
She is wearing a spectacular white soutache and pique dress with flared short sleeves and fabulous open collar. The gown is constructed in panels and it is a bit big on her, but our work shop can take it in, per the request of her new owner, to fit her exactly, or we can leave it pinned, and it can be altered by her new parent if so desired. Underneath she has a white cotton and lace half chemise, a lovely antique half slip with bands of featherstitching and crochet lace hem. Beautiful thick antique cotton pantaloons underneath with lace trimming. She is completed with a period appropriate cotton hat and her fabulous original leather shoes with brown cotton socks. A perfect addition to any cabinet in this fetching ensemble!
Condition: Excellent for her age. As mentioned in the paragraph detailing her features and body, there is some repaint the cheeks, lips and brows are original. The hair is all original as well. Feel free to request black lighted photographs. The repaint was expertly done, and as specified in the black book, work that is not reconstructional in nature should not compromise the value of these early papier maches as they are so commonly in disrepair. This beauty presents very well and I honestly could not tell there was any work done to her without a black-light. I know she will be a shining star in any collection, large or small!
