Glazed white china shoulder head with softly-molded features and painted complexion: blue eyes, tapered brows, and a closed mouth with blushed accenting and rosy cheeks. She has a very lovely rendering of the facial features including pert nose, wide blue eyes, tapered brows, and sweet heart shaped lips. Wonderful inky black hair! Rows and rows of pearls across a dropped double chignon and around the crown. She is on a period appropriate antique body that fits her well, and may even be original. She is sturdy on this body.
She wears a wonderful printed black and purple cotton ball gown with a lovely open neck, black trimming, mermaid train with a bustle and low flair, jacket cut top in lovely condition and a fabulous matched set of undies. The underwear was made to support the dress including a low cut heavily sculpted chemise top (six darts and seams!) a flared mermaid half slip to support the train with three layers of lace ruffle underneath that, along with an additional half slip lined in with that one, completed with a pair of matched pantaloons. Brown leather antiqued newly made shoes with brown buckles and a pair of ribbed cotton socks complete the ensemble. What a costume, with so many options for customization, as well! Make her a little black half mask and she’s ready for the Witches Ball, or give her a fanciful hat and she’ll be the talk of the town.
CONDITION: Very good. This girl's china head is completely free of hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration, and the modeling is pleasant and the painting fabulous. The modeling is crisp and sharp, and is an unusual face that makes her very desirable. Two very minor flakes to the back of the hair, but the wear is truly at a minimum with this doll. The painting of the hair is wonderful, with side strokes brushed onto the temples. Not one pepper-spot to mar her creamy complexion. What a little treasure! Grab her up before she’s gone.
