For the collector who seeks out extremely rare and beautiful early dolls of superb caliber, this beautiful parian lady is ready to make a sweeping entrance into your heart and home. A special lady of commanding presence and demure expression, this delightfully rare find is an example of the best of the best parian dolls that were produced in the late 1860's-early 1870's in Germany by firms such as Kestner and Alt, Beck & Gotschalk. This particular example is a personal favorite as she is in all original condition with her rare original plate, antique body, very lovely facial painting, multi-stroke brows, those super rare cobalt eyes and 'Dolly Maddison' bow in her hair. Not to mention her dress! This spectacular dress has been in my private collection for almost a decade, made by a spectacular seamstress in the 1970's out of Italian silk, with piping and embroidered panels. She looks simply svelt in it. What more could we possibly ask for in so superb an early German fashion lady? Get her before she is snapped up by someone else!

Smooth and creamy parian bisque socket head on original parian plate. Parian was a term used to describe extremely fine porcelain that was created to match the matt finish and texture of the Cara marble statues so popular in Victorian times as archeological digs were unearthing Roman and Greek masterpieces throughout the industrial age; the material had great success in use for decorative arts, small statues, desk top figural paperweights, and notably, dolls. This beautiful example has extremely fine Parian bisque with very delicately painted features, 'Fox cut eyes' of cobalt glass with very generous painting of lips with shading accent, delicate little lashes, multi-stroke brows and beautiful ash blond hair with many curls. She is on what appears to be her beautiful original antique body with beautiful leather hands in very good condition, no patches! Beautiful condition overall.
She is wearing a spectacular vintage made silk dress from my private stock with a beautiful piped edge, pinked silk ruffle trim in a delicious powder blue color with a dark grey contrast color, beautifully embroidered central panel. The gown just fits her so beautifully, with a sweeping skirt and very well fitted bodice with an open neckline to show off that beautiful swivel mechanism and pale blue glass beads. Please note that there is some age spots to the dress but they are very minor. Underneath she has a full set of undergarments including a spectacular full slip of patterned cotton and pantaloons, along with net lace original socks and a vintage pair of shoes. What a treasure.
Condition: Very good. The head is in excellent condition, free of hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration; the plate, however, has a restored hairline at the back. Please see the photographs. Otherwise she is in excellent condition with all original painting of hair and pink hairband with original gold detail painting, beautiful condition of body with leather hands, firm horsehair stuffed cloth torso, legs and upper arms. Truly a magnificent doll if you are looking for a rare early Parian such as this, but perhaps cannot afford the $4500+ price tag that such a rare lady would have, if perfect!
