Representing one of the best, most notable of the earliest character dolls, the Kammer & Reinhardt 100, or "Kaiser" baby, is a real gem to have in the collection. It is said that this baby was modeled after the likeness of Wilhelm II, Kaiser (or emperor) of Germany, who lived from 1859-1941. This K&R model 100 is one of the earliest -- purportedly the second -- character doll put out on the market, and is the first character baby made by K&R! It is an exquisite example of the realism and uniqueness that these lifelike dolls sought to replicate. Deep wrinkles, uncommon expressions both lend themselves to making a face that carries real personality, to make it stand out from the other dolls in the collection. This is one doll that, at his height of 15", you cannot turn down, and he's bound to fit in that little space in your cabinet. He's even available on a layaway, so you can take your time to pay!

He has a lovely bisque dome head, with a 10.5” circumference, and a wonderfully modeled expression, lending itself to a lovely character face, unique to the Kaiser baby, with realistic wrinkles. Paint-stroke brown hair; molded and painted blue eyes, very light airbrushed brown brows, while his open-closed mouth is delicately modeled with blushed lips, surrounded by two cheeks, dipped in just the slightest tint of rose. He is on his original five-piece composition baby body, in pretty great condition, with a nice all-original finish. Stands at 15" tall. He wears a white cotton antique dress, while a delicate antique lace-trimmed bonnet sits atop his head. Underneath goes a white cotton full slip. He wears a cream wool diaper underneath. Pale blue leather booties clad his feet.
Marks: 36 K & R 100
Condition: Excellent. The bisque head is free of hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The modeling is sweet and crisp, with a great expression that can only be found amongst the Kaiser babies. The paint is smooth and excellent, with no pesky chips or rubs to detract. The body is great too, with the gorgeous all-original finish, and tight stringing. There is some slight age wear here and there, and the left point finger has been redone. Overall, it is not very noticeable.
