Extremely Large 24" Belton In the Portrait Jumeau Manner All Antique!
Wow, what a doll. I LOVE this big, beautiful, brown eyed child doll! If you love French bebes but cannot afford the $19,000 price tag that would accompany a portrait Jumeau of this size and caliber, this extraordinarily beautiful Belton in her wonderful antique costume with the most soulful brown eyes will be an excellent substitution. In the 1880s when this beautiful lady was produced, the French dolls really were all the rage, and in a frenzy to produce bebes, after many years of making portrait China and Parian dolls, the German firms such as Sonneburg and Belton created dolls as facsimiles of the very popular French models, and undercut the price points of the French market. The product that they produced however, did not cut corners- these dolls are just as fine (and the bodies, if I may say so, are actually of better quality) as the French dolls, but for some reason, today, they still sell for less. I think that they are every bit as worthy of the high prices that the Jumeau bebes command. That said, this lovely lady is a ver special example; there is something about the supreme beauty of this doll that is truly memorable. From her hypnotic features, to her wonderful costume, this extraordinarily large and lovable example will be a charming addition to any collection, big or small! The coat she sports has been in my private collection for 20 years, I was loathe to give it up, but it is just so becoming on her, I know she will be well loved in her new home in this outstanding ensemble. Adopt this beautiful Mademoiselle before she is gone! *Because of her unusually large size and wonderful French silk velour coat, I would normally price this doll at $3200, but because we are about to have another round of Spring Sales, I am starting her out at her sale price!~
~This Bebe Belton is available on layaway! Take up to 8 months to pay for her at $350 a month, and she will be home in no time at all. We could not imagine a better, more beautiful choice for the collector longing for a big French girl, but with the budget for a wonderful German lady instead.~
