The Princess Dagmar has arrived. And I don't simply mean any Princess Dagmar; I mean THE one! Certainly the next stunning piece you deserve to have in your collection, this example is stellar. She is a royal example, with every detail just as it should be- that nose, those eyes- those earrings! Sporting an incredible presentation in her stunning costume, with antique original underwear, fitted well to her. Her body is gorgeous, with a fantastic condition to the cloth feet an hands. Her parian head is fabulous, styled in a Deluxe Princess Dagmar mold, with particular attention paid to her crisply-modeled snood and hair details, with a lovely long face and sharp features- not to mention the full gold leaf decoration of the black bands. She's adorned in a beautiful dress made from antique roller printed cotton from the 1860s, giving her the best of presentation. The story of Princess Dagmar is a most compelling one; she was betrothed to the Russian Tsaravech Nicolas, but he died shortly after the engagement of meningitis, and she was then courted by his younger brother, Tsarevich Alexander Alexandrovich, whom she married in 1866, shortly after her famous portrait was made into the model for this doll. She was a favorite of European royalty, and the doll was created to appeal to both local European, American and far away Russian markets, as Dagmar (or Minnie, as her family called her) was a beloved public figure. If you are an enthusiast of Victorian history and love 1860's costuming, you deserve to treat yourself to this goddess among parians!

Gorgeous parian head in un-tinted bisque, with a smooth surface, free of cracks or damage. The painting and modeling is superb: crisp modeling, along with sharp, delicate paint strokes to make up her features. She has painted blue eyes with thin brown brows, a petite closed mouth with pink accents. Her hair is designed in a beautiful suspended snood, with a black band across the tip with golden designs. Thin curls are molded above the forehead, and more are held up in the back by a black molded headband. She has her pierced ears decorated with her original gold base coral drop earrings. She stands at 17" tall, on her original cloth body in great condition. She wears her original antique underwear: white cotton pantaloons, full slip, and half slip, all with lace trimming. She is also adorned in a vintage red dress made from antique fabrics: 1860s roller-printed cotton, expertly done by a keen seamstress -- probably a copy of the doll's original dress, fitting her to a tee. She wears gorgeous, French antique paper shoes with original buckles.
Condition: Absolutely Excellent! Free of hairlines, cracks, or restoration to the head, hands, and feet. Her original body is gorgeous, with a clean cotton finish and no major rips or tears. It should be noted that her full slip and pantaloons are custom-fitted to her, and therefore can't be removed unless cut open -- we don't want to do that! We guarantee her condition. Overall, she is an amazing doll, free of excuses and ready to stand as the proud Princess of your collection of fashion dolls, chinas, parians or even bisque dolls as this beauty can hold her own with any crowd!
