Goodness, just look at this angel! I have been handling china and parian dolls for many years, and I have NEVER seen modeling THIS DEEP on a fashion lady before. With her exquisite, early cobalt eyes, and the sweetest expression, it would appear as though our beautiful 'Leibling' is about to speak! We feel confident that she was made by Simon & Halbig as one of their earliest dolls, produced as an export for the French market, as her painting is 'Tres Francais,' but maintains that very distinct German sculpting. Perhaps the only remaining example of this extraordinary doll, we have searched high and low to find documentation of another poupee quite like this, and we are unfortunately coming up short! This exquisite lady is a one of a kind to us, and as such, she is truly a once in a lifetime doll. In excellent overall condition, wearing an outstanding costume with an amazing, c. 1860 black silk fichu, a sweeping black skirt with victorian toffee striped black silk decoration, and a beautiful antique net lace enfantine blouse, she will absolutely take your collection to the next level. Not to mention, her exquisite, original black leather fashion shoes with leather buckles and very hard to come by zig-zag net stocking socks... Every detail is just so with this beauty. The rarest of the rare, and the best of the best, this Simon & Halbig poupee will truly be a crowning jewel for any collection. If you sew, I could only imagine the trousseau that she might accrue over the years! She is offered with our highest Couronne Platin level of gifts and guarantees, to boot, so you can feel confidant that you are buying one of the finest dolls we have ever handled.

~Our exquisite Simon & Halbig fashion lady is available on our layaway plan! Take up to 8 months to pay for her at $475 a month, or give us a call to discuss layaway options and payment plans at 718.859.0901! ~

This beautiful lady has a bisque socket swivel head on her original cloth body with bisque shoulder-plate and bisque arms (they go up past the elbow as her French Cousins bisque arms would measure!) She has the most delicate painting of her facial features; light blond multi-stroke brows with microscopic variance in color to give the appearance of individual hairs, outstanding painting of pert lips with very deep modeling, wonderful blushed cheeks, very highly sculpted nose, delicate branching brows and those early, spiral threaded cobalt eyes... Eyes are rimmed with black liner, as all the finest poupee eye cuts were. What an absolute treat. And the hair! She has an extremely elaborate coif featuring a crown braid that sits above her upswept bangs, and a very elaborate loose cluster of curls that remains high on her head at the back. Take a look at all 365* of her beauty in the photos. She is outstanding.

She wears a wonderful black silk fichu with box pleated double edging, all done by hand in circa 1860 in perfect condition (worth $450 alone) as well as a stunning net lace chemise top wth winged sleeves and tidy waist, as well as a beautiful black skirt of indeterminate age with silk box pleated edging and decorative panel on the train in the back. She is wearing her all original full set of undergarments including her beautiful original trained half slip (photographs on request, we simply forgot to take them while doing her general images) an additional half slip on top of this, as well as her original chemise, and pantaloons, all matched with lace trimming. As previously mentioned, she is wearing spectacular shoes that appear to be original with original metal buckles (marked with '5'on the sole, French in origin) as well as beautiful cotton net stocking socks. The presentation made is outstanding! She is completed by her original cranberry glass necklace, which was used on early poupees to hide their neck joining, as well as a beautiful cameo set of pendant with matching earrings.

Marks: None.

Condition: Superb, save two small chips at the shoulderplate neck. Her head is perfect, as is her left hand, her right hand having a small chip to the thumb that you really need to look for to find. Other than this, she is in STUNNING condition, the face is utterly mint, no unevenness to the bisque, no cheekrubs, restoration, or cracks. The hands are such a delicate treat, too, with individually molded nails, blushing at the knuckles and elbows. The wonderful painting of the features truly stands out. We would be happy to send more photographs of any aspect of the doll for further inspection. In perfect, perfect condition, we would be asking $5500 for her, simply because she is so extraordinarily rare. Get her before she is gone, for she is simply a steal discounted heavily for such a small imperfection.

~A Note On Our New 'Couronne' Three Tiered Rewards and Guarantee System~

Couronne, the French word for crown, has always been a term dear to my heart. I was born in Paris, French was my first language, and will always be my favorite way to talk about dolls. The circular nature and royal implication of the word 'couronne' make it an excellent adjective to describe the best of the best that we offer, here at Kathy Libraty's Antiques. As time goes on, I find it harder and harder to come across dolls of the highest and finest quality; and when I do have the pleasure of finding and subsequently offering them to my customers, expressing their growing rarity is difficult. Thus, we now have a way to do it in far fewer words than I have used in the past. Dolls of the highest excellence will now be offered in three tiers, each with an embossed tag expressing their level of merit:

~Couronne Dauphine D'Argent~ (Silver) To achieve the Dauphine level, a doll must be- shall we say, a cut above the pack. A doll at this level is exemplary, and would achieve Impériale or Royale status if not for a small flaw or two, acquired over her long life. These dolls are divine and stand out on their own. At this level, in addition to the doll purchased, the buyer receives a small gift, personalized thank you note, as well as a 5% off voucher for a future purchase.

~Couronne Royale D'Or~ (Gold) Dolls that achieve this level are rare, alluring, beautifully dressed and in very good condition. They exemplify everything that we look for in a doll and prize above others in a 100+ year old antique. At this level, our customers receive a small gift in addition to their package along with a personalized thank you note that is included with every doll we sell. A voucher for 7% off of your next purchase will be included.

~Couronne Impériale Platin~ (Platinum) The highest order of antique doll, a doll that is all original or otherwise exquisitely costumed . A doll that has an absolutely original body and without damage or compromise. With a doll at this level, we offer our customers a gift of antique doll jewelry, a luxury bonbon, personalized thank you note specifying the value and rarity of the item. Additionally, a voucher for 10% off of your next purchase from us. A receipt of your purchase for insurance purposes is also available upon request at this level, as well as in invitation to our Holiday Antique Doll High Tea at our home in and show room in Brooklyn, New York. *Insurance receipts are also available upon request for any doll at these levels.*

Our Service Guarantee: We promise that you will be happy with your doll, or we will do everything in our power to ensure that you have a positive experience purchasing from us. The piece that you buy from us is guaranteed to be in as described condition, carefully wrapped, packed to ensure that you get the doll in the condition that it was in when we took the photographs, and lovingly taken care of until it reaches you. We are aware that we charge a little more than many, why is that? We have taken the time to painstakingly ensure that every detail of your doll is stellar, to research her history, to find out where she came from, and provide as much information as we can about this beautiful piece of history. From shoes to wig, to body, to hair and accessories, we know that you are investing money in your purchase, and the only investments that hold up over time are ones that are cabinet ready, and visually appealing, especially for those who will consider reselling their treasures at a later date. We are promising you a beautiful doll, a positive experience, a layaway that allows you to get the doll you want, and a 3 day money-back guarantee. If you don't absolutely love your doll, even if it was on a 1 year layaway, we will take it back and give you a full refund, no questions asked. Because we are that confident in the quality of our beautiful dolls.
