This little bisque girl is a real darling, with a unique presentation that makes her stand out as a wonderful piece of history. Manufactured by the French SFBJ, in the 60 model, her all original antique costume is designed in the Normandy Girl style; meant to replicate the young girls brought from Normandy to Paris in the late 19th to early 20th centuries to be trained and equipped as nannies. If you have a collection of miniature babies, she is ready to lovingly care for them! She has a great sense of style that translates very well, from her blue painted eyes, to the delicate lace of the costume, and the cross around her neck. She is real sweet, and is a great choice if you want to buy a little doll to hold you off until your next big purchase.
**We are offering this sweet girl on a short layaway! Take up to two months to pay for this delightful doll. Give us a call anytime at 718.859.0901 to hear an in hand description of her excellent condition, or to discuss layaway terms. Or you can simply let us know at checkout that you need time to pay!**
She has a bisque socket head, with molded and painted eyes (a rarity amongst these dolls, usually seen with the more commonplace glass eyes), with blue irises, painted upper & lower lashes, tapered brown brows, and a closed mouth with blushed lips and slightly rosy cheeks. She wears her original human hair blond wig, in a cute parted style with two twin side braids in loops, tied with ribbons. She stands at 9" tall, on her original composition body, with straight limbs. It must be noted that because this is her original costume, and due to her size, she was sewn into the costume and has not since been removed. Since we want to preserve the historical integrity of the doll and don't want to risk damaging the costume, which can happen much more easily with the smaller dolls, we've left her inside the costume. Her costume consists of a dark cotton dress with golden piping, and a cotton organdy overlay on the shoulders, with a pink apron with white lace trim over the front, while around her neck sits a metal crucifix, period-appropriate. Atop her head sits a lace original maid bonnet with lace trim. Underneath goes a cotton organdy skirt, while her feet are black painted shoes with tiny heels.
