This delightful little Kestner, in the sweet 211 "Sammy" model is a rare all original example of this classic character baby. He is that delightful "put me in your pocket" size and takes up very little space especially while sitting, and will look delightful displayed in a little corner of your cabinet. He's incredibly adorable, and with his sparkling blue eyes and ORIGINAL costume, he makes a classic addition to any selection of babies.

He has a lovely bisque socket head, with a 9” circumference, and a wonderfully modeled expression, lending itself to a lovely character face, with deep dimples and realistic chunky face. Blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper & lower lashes, and feathered brows, and an open mouth with two lower teeth. He is on his original five-piece composition baby body. Stands at 10.5" tall. He wears a lovely antique costume: a matching cream cotton baby gown with lace trim and bonnet with a halo-style of lace trim, while underneath goes a white cotton antique full slip with lace trim, white cotton diaper, and white crochet booties. He wears an original antique blond mohair wig in a short style atop his head, over the original plaster pate.

Marks: made in Germany JDK 211

Condition: Excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration. The modeling is sweet and crisp, with a great expression. The paint is smooth and excellent, with only two very minor rubs to the nose and left cheek. The stringing on the body is nice and tight. The glass eyes sleep well. The composition body has its original pink finish; there are some areas of repaint touchup where the surface has flaked (particularly on the neck in the front), and there is crazing and flaking to the limbs especially, and minor scraping to fingertips. Overall, it's a great baby with a great presentation; they are so hard to find in the original costume like this... I know that this delightful little one will be gone soon!
