Steeped in history, this is the doll is the CLOSEST I have ever seen to mint condition on a 180 year old doll...Gorgeous in every way, with the face of an angel and light blue sleep eyes, this is one of those girls that you simply won't be able to forget. Ready for an afternoon stroll in her lovely all original pink print cotton gown with lace edging- Really, they don't get any better than this! And have a look at the back of her hair where her ALL ORIGINAL four part braids and original pink silk ribbon STEAL the show. Not to mention, the market for these gorgeous early girls is FINALLY reaching where it should have been years ago, as collectors realize the magic of owning pieces of history from the 1850's and 60's... Can you imagine all that has happened from the day this girl was made until now? And yet she is in such mint condition! We are proud to offer this fabulous, museum quality girl and we look forward to placing her in a new, loving home.
*Yes, she is available on layaway! She and her sister (pictured with a painting of a similar doll from our small doll focused art collection) are both available for over-time purchases and can be bought together for $3000, if interested! A gem of a pair, individually, these girls hold their own as spectacular pieces of doll history. We love them so and would be happy to see them purchased together. Give us a call anytime at 718.859.0901 to hear an in hand description of this beauty's condition, or to discuss layaway terms!*
Sublime wax over papier-mache shoulderhead with long sloping collar-line, molded bosom and long neck. Gorgeous all original painting of features. Beautiful almondine eyecuts with spiral paperweight eyes in a royal blue velvet color with light spirals which sleep, in wonderful working condition on original rocker. Sweet pink lips with original paint (so rare to find) pert nose, and that FABULOUS delicate pink blush to her cheeks. And did you take a look at that hair? Two luscious four part braids wrap to the back. The front is pulled back. This is an exceedingly fine style; each section, hand tied to her head, and THEN hand styled... Wow. What an INCREDIBLE find.
She is costumed in her all original pink cotton day dress with copious amounts of lace trim, and gorgeous hand cut mother of pearl buttons. Underneath she has a lovely white cotton half slip (factory original) with four layers of tucking. It is a double ruffle skirt, so it has two layers to add volume to the skirt. A beautiful cotton chemise top hand sewn to the beautiful pantaloons with hand embroidered edging. Just perfection! And take a look at those hand painted original boots. With three colors! Just lovely eight button boots nicely molded with black buttons and burgundy tassels. It doesn't get any better than this!
Condition: She is in amazing shape for her age. Excellent overall condition with minor and typical age wear. Just a complete gem, she has minimal overall wear with beautiful original painting intact (SUPER RARE TO FIND!) You just won't come across a more pristine example!
