I simply adore early wax dolls such as this, and this fabulous 'Enfantine' is just charming. With her childlike face and lady like body, with an elaborate updo of individually inset blond curls, this rare girl from the 1860's has survived wonderfully over the years. Over the past few years it has become harder and harder to find these rare, early Enfantine wax ladies, and this precious girl is just an amazing example that has not been lost to time. She is on her fabulous original body with original leather arms, with individual fingers -- wow! She also has a GORGEOUS antique wool costume, in a beautiful pastel rose colour that makes her look absolutely stunning. So, what are you waiting for? This girl's costume alone is worth nearly $400, from my estimates, and she looks fantastic in it. Do not hesitate to make this gorgeous early girl your very own!
*We are offering this delightful wax lady on layaway! Take up to eight months to pay for her, and she ships for free in the US with shipping credit abroad.*
She has a wonderful poured wax head on her original cloth body, with original leather arms, with individual fingers. Beautiful face with excellent rendering of features. Delicately painted upper and lower lashes surround the eyes, while she has feathered blond flat brows, and a rosy-lipped closed mouth. Her original golden human hair wig is affixed to the head. She stands at 21” tall.
She is adorned in a gorgeous all antique costume, starting with a matching jacket and skirt, both in a pale salmon pink wool, super fine to the touch, with black trimming and piping. Black round functional buttons close the front. Underneath goes a lovely antique white cotton half slip with beautiful tucking and lace trim, and a pair of matching antique pantaloons with lace trim. White cotton knit socks adorn her feet, and she wears a pair of brown genuine leather shoes (antique as well) on her feet.
Condition: Excellent. Her head and face are in great condition. Her face has maintained its bright and lush complexion, and is clear of any deep scratches or chips that might compromise the delicate wax. The original hair was expertly inset and looks gorgeous, with a golden sheen. The original body is fabulous as well, and only the typical and expected age wear. There is some reinforcement patchwork to bother arms, but the leather used is old and matches the leather of the arms well. The wax on the back of the plate has flaked off quite a bit, revealing the paper mache underneath, but there is no damage otherwise.
