A fabulous original selection of pieces in all original, pristine condition, especially hard to find with an open collar like this. If you have a kid bodied doll from the 1870-80 era, she would be very pleased to have a set in as wonderful condition as this trio! There is not one element that is out of place here- it seems as though time has not touched these wonderful pieces of costume history. Perfectly illustrating the dressing sequence from this period, a young lady would have worn this chemise with two layers of half slips, just as we found them. The fancier half slip with all of that embroidery was worn as the outer layer, so that if someone should spy the lady as she lifted her skirt to cross a thresh-hold, the more intricately decorated skirt would catch the eye. The second half slip is of thicker, warmer cotton, which all goes over the thick cotton chemise with those bell sleeves and open collar to accommodate a more open dress than what her younger sisters or daughter would have worn in the 1880's-90's. An excellent set for the connoisseur, we are happy to offer these beauties for sale!
~We can even offer a brief layaway of up to 3 months for this set!~
Measurements: Waist: up to 9.25" (more if you would like to move the button on the smaller, inside slip; the more fanciful outer slip closes with cotton ties.) Shoulder to Shoulder: ~6.5"
Condition: Excellent. I am hard pressed to remember a finer set of antique china undergarments at this price point that I have handled. They make a wonderful presentation- and sold all together like this, we know that they will make one lucky lady very happy. If you have a large fashion doll that is looking for a set to add to her trousseau, this bunch is an excellent price and in MINT condition.

**We now ship EVERY SINGLE ONE of our antique costume pieces and wigs in archival, museum quality, acid free tissue paper. We store them in an acid free, climate controlled environment, because we want you to get a textile or wig that has been frozen in time. As curators of these antiques, we want them to be as fresh for the next generation of students and enthusiasts as they were for us. This is factored into the price of our merchandise. We hope you can enjoy these rare finds for years to come, and we want to make sure that when they reach you, they are ready for careful love and display if you so chose, or to be stored in a destruction-free paper. Happy shopping!**
