An absolutely gorgeous piece, fitting for the most exquisite china and fashion ladies in your collection, this delicious cherry red wool cape. Hailing from the Huret era in the mid-1800s, this piece is is constructed from a fine thin crimson red wool, with a cream quilted silk inner lining. The exterior has a fine cream embroidery trim along the edge, as well as an intricate overlay lace trim border in a fine hexagon pattern. A silk-lined hood is attached, with thin cream ribbons tied into a bow. Cream tassels drape from the points where the cape meets the hood, offering a decorative presentation. The cape's ornamented yet subtle style, along with its vivid color palette, make for a truly exquisite presentation piece, worthy of the finest china or fashion ladies... Perhaps, if you have your very own prized Huret, she would look well at home with it draped over her shoulders.
*Yes, we would be happy to offer this piece on a short layaway. Collecting for a fashion doll with the most discerning taste is never easy, so split the payment of this cape in up to three parts and get her what she really wants for the coming fall weather!*
Collar to hem: 9"
Shoulder to shoulder: 3.5"
Bottom arc length: 28"
Condition: Very good! The color is rich and vibrant, while the trimming has a delicate cream color that is pleasing to the eye, and yet maintains that distinct construction and look that makes the exquisite fashion doll accessories of the late 1850's so incredible. There is minor mothing peppered across the wool exterior and on the side of the hood (see images). The silk interior has only a few spots of wear, but luckily has remained mostly intact, with only minor age and soil wear. The lovely antique lace trimming is of the period but a later addition. Overall the piece has beautifully withstood the test of time, and will look just as fabulous on your coveted poupee as it does on our sweet Biedermeier (as seen in the pictures and available in our shop, currently on sale! Listing number: RLI-946). (LBS)
