An exquisite cape for the fashion lady who must be up to date on equestrian fashion, this superb piece from the late 1870's will be at home in any collection of fine fashion doll accessories. Perfect for a doll of 18-22", the stunning length and versatility of this cape make it an irresistable piece (that large size range is delightful, especially if you have sisters that share accessories.) Crafted beautifully by hand and trimmed with that striking black Chantilly lace, black velour at the collar and truly trimmed with that black silk lining at the front, the luxury of this piece is simply delicious. I couldn't pick a favorite feature if you asked me to, but I have to say, that stunning brass and mirrored decorative button is an incredible touch. With a plumed toque and riding dress, your girl will be ready for the races with this exquisite piece! If I had a fashion doll's horse in my collection, you bet that I would never let this cape out of my sight! Truly one of my favorite fashion accessories we have been able to offer to date, this is not one to hesitate on, ladies and gentlemen. If you have the right doll for it, grab this gorgeous find, as I know that our growing following of fashion doll collectors will want to snatch this piece up as soon as it goes public.
*Yes, we would be happy to offer this piece on a short layaway. Collecting for a fashion doll with the most discerning taste is never easy, so split the payment of this cape in up to three parts and get her what she really wants for the coming fall weather!*
Collar to hem: 12.5"
Shoulder to shoulder: 7"
Total sweep: a whopping 52"!
Condition: Excellent. Truly superb for its age with only the most minor wear to certain parts of the shoulders (visible in photos.) No gaping mothing as we so often find on these fabulous wool pieces! You will not come across a nicer one. I am including a photograph of a similar riding cape at the MET Museum from Maison Worth, one of the most expensive Parisienne Victorian fashion houses. The cape dates from the 1870's and is a beautiful, comparable piece; though I dare say, I like the doll version just a tad more!

**We now ship EVERY SINGLE ONE of our antique costume pieces in archival, museum quality, acid free tissue paper. We store them in an acid free, climate controlled environment, because we want you to get a textile that has been frozen in time. As curators of these antiques, we know how important it is for them to be as fresh for the next generation of students and enthusiasts as they were for us. This is factored into the price of our merchandise. We hope you can enjoy these rare finds for years to come, and we want to make sure that when they reach you, they are ready for careful love and display if you so chose, or to be stored in a destruction-free paper. Happy shopping!**
