A beautiful piece with no less than 10 layers of tucking and a gorgeous hand embroidered hem, this crisp slip would look beautiful on your favorite larger china or fashion lady. Made c. 1880, it would be ideal for a thin waisted girl with a sweet face. An earlier undergarment, this slip was designed without closures, instead meant to be either pinned or sewn onto the wearer’s cloth body. As you may be able to see in the photos, this slip fits one of my largest doll mannequins, and would be absolutely darling with a fine hoopskirt underneath! (Not included in the sale, but also up in our shop.) Bright and rich white cotton lays out in a wonderful umbrella shape, with rows and rows of tight tucking. A scalloped trim with flower embroidery and eyelet lace decorates the bottom edge; just because it’s an undergarment, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fabulous. A sweet piece, that’s for sure; every stitch was done with care, and it will definitely enhance the costume collection of any china lady in a grand size!
Measurements: Waist width: 6" ; Length: 13"
Condition: Excellent. This piece has held up very well considering its age, with no tears or holes, maintaining a clean and intact structure. The embroidery is as fine as ever, while the color is rich and vibrant white, with no pesky stains. This piece has no excuses, and your doll is guaranteed to benefit from such a lovely article of clothing. Please note, the hoopskirt is not included in the sale.

**We now ship EVERY SINGLE ONE of our antique costume pieces in archival, museum quality, acid free tissue paper. We store them in an acid free, climate controlled environment, because we want you to get a textile that has been frozen in time. As curators of these antiques, we want them to be as fresh for the next generation of students and enthusiasts as they were for us. This is factored into the price of our merchandise. We hope you can enjoy these rare finds for years to come, and we want to make sure that when they reach you, they are ready for careful love and display if you so chose, or to be stored in a destruction-free paper. Happy shopping!**
