A gorgeous set for the French Fashion or China Lady in your life, this gorgeous selection will absolutely delight any fine fashion doll. Constructed out of some of the softest, thinnest and finest lawn I have ever seen, it has a gossamer texture to it that is absolutely delightful. With that fanciful triple tier of ruffles, and that gorgeous eyelet embroidered banding, I have not seen another petite set of this caliber. We can date this set to the 1880's by the long length of the pantaloons; at the height of the puritanical Victorian era (1882-98,) the word "Leg" was deemed inappropriate for a woman to say, and was replaced by "limb", hence, less scandalous women often wore nearly floor length pantaloons, lest a gust ruffle their petticoats and expose a stocking covered ankle! A wonderful artifact, it is always nice to find pieces like this in doll size. Everything is just so about this lovely combination, that has managed to stay together through the years. Throughout the Victorian era, ruffles were very popular, and this gorgeous duo shows us why; nothing could be more romantic than the volume created by so fine a detail as ruffling. Now your ladies can experience the total volume only achieved by these delightful undergarments.
Pantaloon length: 9.5"
Skirt Length: Front, 9", back 10"
Waist measurement: up to 5", would have been pinned or sewn.
Condition: Excellent. Near mint. One minor spot at the very hem of right pantaloon ruffle, but otherwise, pristine. This is a piece for the collector who buys the best!

**We now ship EVERY SINGLE ONE of our antique costume pieces in archival, museum quality, acid free tissue paper. We store them in an acid free, climate controlled environment, because we want you to get a textile that has been frozen in time. As curators of these antiques, we want them to be as fresh for the next generation of students and enthusiasts as they were for us. This is factored into the price of our merchandise. We hope you can enjoy these rare finds for years to come, and we want to make sure that when they reach you, they are ready for careful love and display if you so chose, or to be stored in a destruction-free paper. Happy shopping!**
