An extraordinary doll that we just don't see too often, this beautiful early girl from the late 1860's attributed to Kloster is a find indeed in her original red pinstripe dress! This rare original cotton "Morning Gown" is a particular piece of fashion history as it illustrates an American style of the transition to the bustle from the crinoline (c. 1869.) A similar costume for a fashion or china lady just sold on RubyLane for $375. Very hard to find in human size, this particular dress features a slightly raised hem, a nod to the Mode Enfantine style from a few years (just under a decade) before, while boasting a fanciful train. The overall presentation of this doll, on her original body, is just delightful. For the collector who seeks out the early styles of dress and the best china ladies, this simple but absolutely wonderful girl is for you.

She has a wonderful china head with delicate pink tint to the face and decolte that slowly disappears as you go down the plate. Sweet Victorian features include small lips, big blue eyes, petite nose, tapered brows. She is on her wonderful original body of cloth with individually stitched brown leather fingers. Hair is in excellent condition with delicate curls that wrap around her head. Hardly any wear at all.
This spectacular original antique costume fits her beautifully, comprised of a wonderful red and white pinstripe dress with red cotton around the hem, a lovely open collar with square cut red accent to expose her beautiful neck and red cuffs. Full set of antique undergarments include a half slip with eyelet trim and a pair antique pantaloons. The half slip is a tad big and is secured with a pin. She is completed by antique but later white shoes and a gorgeous red glass bead necklace.
Condition: Excellent. Truly in wonderful condition. She has a minor darkening of the mold line one one side of the plate, this is completely original to her and should not affect her value. A few small peppers as well. We have decided not to undress her to preserve the integrity of the sewn on dress. I just know she is a rare, beautiful girl!
