A gorgeous lady that just exudes class and has such presence, I have never seen this super rare hairstyle before! Have you? She is singular. Of particular historical interest, I was able to find a fabulous early plate from the Godey Lady's Book from 1861 showing the fashion of young women's wedding gowns and hair, and sure enough, a very similar look to this beauty's ensemble and coiffe can be found there. A museum quality example, she is free of excuses, and is in exemplary condition for her age. Her dress is a late Edwardian replacement probably in the style of her original gown, in excellent shape, and she will command the attention of your entire collection as she prepares for her bridal procession. Completed with a beautiful bouquet, a wonderful veil and a fabulous floral crown, this doll is a top quality china lady, fit for a "best of the best" collector.
*Yes, she is available on layaway! Take up to eight months to pay for this wonderful bride. Just give us a call at 718.859.0901 to discuss layaway terms or send a note at checkout.*
She has perfectly painted features with large blue eyes, sweetly rendered lips, a fine aristocratic nose and matched tapered brows. Delicate pink tint of the entire plate with a wonderful blushing of the cheeks. And this hair! She has a crisply molded head featuring two clusters of curls at either side of the crown, with brushstrokes delicately pulling the hair back from her face. Partially exposed ears lead to an exquisitely rendered double chignon at the back with three layers of rolls create the appearance of her hair billow around her in an inky halo. The profile of her coiffure is completed by a wonderfully delicate strand of original pearls at her neck.
Her wedding dress is simply without compare. Have a look at all of the photos- she is just STUNNING in this gown. A delicate cream lawn overlaying a spectacular sateen/silk blend just makes this gown shimmer in the light. Gorgeous lace decorated collar. Ivory colored ruffle tulips (antique) complete the ensemble- but let us not forget that fabulous veil finished with a flower crown. How lovely is she! Full set of undergarments including attached slip and original eyelet embroidered pantaloons. Not to mention, she has a fabulous pair of leather shoes (antique) which somehow did not get photographed when we shot her, but we can send additional photos on request. How precious she is!
Condition; Excellent overall. She is in fabulous shape for her age on her original body in fabulous shape. Her upper arms were replaced, but we believe the lower leather hands with stitch indicated fingers are probably antique replacements in very fine condition. Minor and typical age wear to hair, but overall in wonderful shape.
She is a doll to enjoy for the rest of your life! If you are the kind who keeps collecting for your dolls through the years, a beautiful white victorian doll sized shawl would be something to look for for her- or a few little all bisque children to hold her veil and gown in your display! What could be better than a doll such as she that will add so much to your display- she is worthy of her own scene!
