I purchased this fabulous brooch a couple of months ago and had it appraised, and the appraisal will be my description as I am not a jeweler. The appraisal reads: One Platinum Vintage Diamond Brooch The brooch is of vintage era circa 1900-1910 with filigree and hand milgrain details set with fifty three (53) round old European Cut Diamonds weighing +/-3.50 ct total weight with G/H/I Color, SI Clarity. The brooch weighs 16.8 grams. Estimated replacement value is $10,000.00.
The pin measures 2 1/4" long and is about 1 1/4" wide at the widest point. The back of the pin is fashioned so that it can be worn as a pin, or as a necklace. There are loops where a chain could be threaded through and it would then hang vertically. It also has a safety feature where a pin can be pinned through at the top so that if the large pin or necklace chain failed, that the pin would hold it secure to the garment. There are no maker's marks that either the jeweler or I can find.
It truly is an exquisite piece and deserves to be worn and shown off. I will be happy to answer any questions or to send additional photos to serious buyers. I will only ship this piece registered mail insured.
