This nice cast iron scotty dog is enameled and was produced out of a demand for likenesses of Pres. Roosevelt’s little Scotty dog ‘FALA’. In the late 1930’s and 40’s President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s scotty dog was considered the “most famous dog in the world” spending every waking and sleeping moment with the famous FDR. The President mentioned him in speeches and brought him to press conferences. They were inseparable, and Fala was even present at the signing of the declaration of war in December of 1941, asleep in a chair beside the President. The public demanded more, so foundries started producing Scottish terrier likenesses. This small doorstop measures 5 1/4” tall by 5 1/2” wide and is in wonderful condition with almost all the enameling both front and back intact. It does have some small areas of missing enamel and I would say 95 percent is intact. Weighing almost 3 pounds it will definitely keep your door open.
