A handsome statue by Boehm of a black and white Cocker Spaniel dog measuring 6 inches long by 4 3/4 inches tall. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing and I believe dates to the 1950’s. Edward Marshall Boehm (1913 - 1969) was a self-taught American sculptor known for his porcelain figures of birds and other wildlife. Prior to Edward Marshall Boehm's venture in 1950s, few, if any, American firms had ever made hard-paste porcelain sculpture that successfully compared with the fine centuries-old production of Europe and Asia. His sculptures are highly regarded and sought after today. This coloring is seldom seen on the secondary market.
