Extremely rare is this wonderful example of a figural bronze cigar cutter from Austria. The handsome French Bulldog stands atop the box which holds the cutter at the front. You just pull on the two small knobs to release the cutter and push back in when not in use. The open box holds the matches and is open on all sides so you can strike the match. Measurements are 2 1/2 inches long by 1 1/2 inches deep by 2 3/4 inches high and is marked AUSTRIA in impressed letters on the bottom. It is in great working condition with nice patina and just has some finish wear to the steel blades and a little bit of a roughness to box inside edge at back. I would date it to 1900-1920’s.
