This is an amazing early humidor with a very handsome St. Bernard dog coming out of his dog house. It measures a large 8 inches long by 6 1/4 inches high and 5 inches wide. The dog is nicely modeled and very animated gazing intently at something off in the distance. It is marked on the bottom with the letters “L & C” and the number 11. The front of the box is decorated with leaves and branches that flow into a handsome flower on the base resting next to the dog. Condition is wonderful for its age which I’m guessing to be late 1890’s or older. There is one chip near the edge of the cover just opposite the dog’s nose and another about the same size on the back bottom edge. The inside edge of the cover has some small chips which I’ve show in a photo and flower has one tiny fleabite. The box itself just has some tiny fleabites to an inside edge as shown. Not bad at all for this exceptional decorative and functional piece.
