Here we have an extremely rare and exceptional art nouveau tie or leash rack featuring two handsome Dachshund dogs. It is a wonderful example of the Judd Company of New Britain, Connecticut’s beautiful craftsmanship and style. Founded in 1833 as a harness manufacturer, it would not be until the early 1900’s the Judd Co. would begin to produce fine quality castings in brass, bronze and iron. The dog ornament is cast iron with handsome art nouveau decoration and measures 4 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches high with impressed numbers 1618. The hanging rods are made of brass. The piece is in wonderful condition with just a bit of finish wear to the hanging rods commensurate with use and one is a bit loose. It is made to hang on the wall could easily hold ties, leash, keys, etc. I cannot find one anywhere online so expect this to be a once in a lifetime find.
